Warriors not for sale

Warriors not for sale
LAS VEGAS Warriors team president Robert Rowell, after watching the Warriors' lose a summer league affair with Houston, disputed the recent reports about owner Chris Cohan's interest in selling the team.

"The Golden State Warriors are not for sale," Rowell said. "There is not a For Sale sign up."

Bay Area News Group, citing sources, reported that Cohan was interested in selling the team and entered discussions with Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison and a group of minority ownera. Rowell said he doesn't comment on rumors, but reiterated that the team is not for sale.

Sources told Bay Area News Group that Cohan wanted good price for the franchise.

"What price?" Rowell said. "No offer was made."

The best long shot?

Last year, the Warriors found a gem in guard Anthony Morrow, who earned a training camp invite and a spot on the team thanks to his performance in Las Vegas. Rookie forward Rob Kurz also made team.

Swingman Cartier Martin had 14 points on 5-for-11 shooting with four rebounds in 24 minutes.

Afterward, he was kicking himself about two missed free throws and late lay-up.

"I struggled on my shot a little bit," said Martin, who spent time on the Charlotte Bobcats roster last season. "I missed some clutch free throws, something I normally don't do."

The Warriors hardly need another swingman, but the 6-foot-7, 220-pound Martin brings a little bit of the things the Warriors could use: toughness, rebounding, defense.

The Warriors considered calling Martin up last season, but went with the bigger need in post Jermareo Davidson.

"I have all the confidence in the world that I can play at this level," Martin said. "I just need to keep working and not settle. I'm tough on myself. I work hard."
