Struggling with fitness, Bobcats F May inactive
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Bobcats forward Sean May was on the inactive list for Saturday's game against Miami, two days after coach Larry Brown criticized his fitness following a sluggish performance in the season opener.

May started in Charlotte's 96-79 loss to Cleveland on Thursday night, but was 0-for-6 from the field and played only 3 minutes in the second half. Brown said May needs to get in much better condition and lose weight after missing all of last season following microfracture surgery on his right knee.

"We just think it's important that he's in the kind of shape that he can play as well as he's capable of playing," Brown said. "He's coming off a terrible injury and it's a work in progress with him. But I don't think it's helpful for him to be out there at less than 100 percent."

Jared Dudley replaced May at power forward, giving Charlotte a much smaller lineup and further depleting an already thin front line.

May, the 13th pick in the 2005 draft, has undergone three surgeries on his right knee and played in only 59 games in three-plus seasons.
