Charlotte Bobcats Notes, Quotes 2009-09-04
--The Bobcats have lost a bunch of season-ticket holders in the face of this economy and you have to wonder how that will affect spending on the product going forward. They didn't field a summer-league team, are staying home for training camp (first time in Larry Brown's career) and one team source speculates this could become a Memphis Grizzlies-like circumstance, where all the focus is on saving money, rather than chasing the playoffs.

--The Bobcats haven't been particularly successful marketing to the cities that circle Charlotte. That once was a big strength for their predecessors, the Charlotte (now-New Orleans) Hornets. Perhaps that's why the Bobcats are going to Greensboro for a preseason game against the Hornets and to Charleston for a preseason matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Everything is about Allen. And it can't all be about Allen at this point in his career. He's no longer that intimidating figure who can just blow by everybody. So he's got to do other things, and I'm not sure he will." -- Former Philadelphia 76ers general manager Billy King, to the Charlotte Observer, on the risk the Bobcats might face if they sign Allen Iverson.
