Charlotte Bobcats Notes, Quotes 2009-10-29

Charlotte Bobcats Notes, Quotes 2009-10-29--With the NFL Carolina Panthers suffering through a horrible season, the Bobcats could do themselves a ton of good, marketing-wise, by reaching the playoffs. But that seems like a reach, considering what they did compared to others in the Eastern Conference. Two teams that finished behind them in the standings -- Washington (Mike Miller and Randy Foye) and Toronto (Hedo Turkoglu) -- improved dramatically more than the Bobcats (Flip Murray and Stephen Graham).

--Based on the preseason, this could be the most productive draft in Bobcats' history. Gerald Henderson (12th pick) and Derrick Brown (40th overall) have already demonstrated they're ready to contribute. It's surprising that Brown -- a small forward who can play some power forward -- was still available in the second round. On maturity, understanding of the game and athleticism, he already plays like a veteran.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "He's absolutely right -- I much prefer going to practice. I love the competition of games, but my biggest fear is we haven't prepared guys for what they might see in games: Like putting Alexis (Ajinca) in a situation he's not ready for." -- Bobcats coach Larry Brown, to the Charlotte Observer, on how Brown would rather coach practices than games.
