Charlotte Bobcats Notes, Quotes 2009-10-19

Charlotte Bobcats Notes, Quotes 2009-10-19--The Bobcats and coach Larry Brown received striking fines from the NBA -- $60,000 each -- after Brown was ejected from a preseason game in Atlanta, then commented briefly on replacement referees the next day. Addressing the general rise in foul calls, Brown said the preseason games reminded him of summer-league games in which, "you never got to see the kids play."

--With a relatively small margin for error to make the playoffs, several Bobcats veterans have said a quick start is crucial to the team's chances. But Brown's teams have traditionally been slow starters and strong finishers over the course of a season.

MAIN REASON THE BOBCATS CAN WIN: Brown is great at quick fixes and this reshaped roster more fits his priorities -- defense, passing, driving the ball -- than the slew of jump shooters he inherited at the start of last season.

MAIN REASON THE BOBCATS CAN LOSE: They're relatively star-less, particularly on offense. There's no transcendent scorer to bail them out of bad possessions. That's why the Bobcats are looking to run more, to fabricate some easy transition baskets.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Until we figure out a way to get more shots and have more of a flow up-and-down the court -- which is the beauty of the game -- it's going to be tough" to entertain fans." -- Coach Larry Brown, speaking globally, on how basketball has evolved for the worse.
