--Larry Brown was introduced April 29 as the new head coach of the Bobcats, who will be his ninth NBA team.
--Jason Richardson had a fine second half of the season and Nazr Mohammed provided much-needed depth inside. However, their combined salaries going forward represent an average of about $20 million per season for each of the next three seasons. The teams trading those players (Golden State for Richardson and Detroit for Mohammed) did so primarily to reduce their payrolls. It will be interesting to track, going forward, whether Richardson and Mohammed are worth the salary-cap flexibility the Bobcats bargained away in those deals.
--It's reasonable to assume the Bobcats' urgency to reach the playoffs in Season Four was in part a function of the ticket-selling side of the front office. Many of the revenue-driving club seats in the lower bowl of the arena are up for renewal after this season and several of the luxury suites are not leased. The Bobcats are losing money annually and that won't change until the lower bowl is full of paying customers.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'm surely not going to walk away from my responsibilities." -- Coach Sam Vincent, when asked how confident he was he'd be back next season.
