Maybe the Bobcats should lobby for a transfer to the Northwest Division. The road trips would be long, but the benefits could be impressive.
They're 6-2 against the Northwest with two games left -- in Portland on Saturday, then a home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Bobcats have a losing record against each of the other five divisions. They reached this plateau with a victory in Seattle on Friday, following a shocking upset of the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. The Bobcats have been a markedly streaky team of late, winning five straight, then losing six of seven and now winning two in succession.
With Portland's Brandon Roy out with a groin pull, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Bobcats' winning streak reached three.
BOBCATS 96, SUPERSONICS 93: It was an odd game -- the Bobcats scored 38 points in the first quarter, off 61 percent shooting, then couldn't make anything in the second and third quarters and let the Sonics back into the game. Gerald Wallace made the difference, stripping Earl Watson of the ball with 33 seconds left, and rookie Jared Dudley grabbed an offensive rebound, off a miss by Raymond Felton, to retain possession in the key late seconds.
