It took four months for the Charlotte Bobcats to finally win three straight games last season.
The surging Bobcats will have to play better than their most recent contest with the Milwaukee Bucks to accomplish that much earlier this season when the teams meet Friday night at the Bradley Center.Charlotte (7-11) looks to win three in a row for the first time since March 26-29 after beating Oklahoma City 103-97 at home Wednesday. That's the team's longest winning streak since posting five straight to open March.
While still last in the NBA averaging 90.1 points per game, the Bobcats have scored 100 in each of their three victories over their last four contests.
"I think we're getting a little better," Charlotte coach Larry Brown said. "I think individually guys are getting better."
Emeka Okafor had 25 points and 13 rebounds while Gerald Wallace added 21 points and underachieving forward Sean May had 10 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double since the 2006-07 season.
The Bobcats' recent offensive outburst has coincided with having a healthier roster and a more consistent effort to give Okafor the ball inside and take pressure off Wallace (16.6 points per game) and Jason Richardson (19 ppg), who had 18 to surpass 10,000 points in his career.
Averaging a career-low 11.7 points with 10.9 rebounds, Okafor has 49 points and 23 rebounds in the past two games.
"Now that he's getting the ball, he's making strong moves," said Richardson said of Okafor. "He's doing a great job. He's working hard."
While Richardson missed the Bobcats' most recent game versus Milwaukee with a knee injury, Okafor was one of the few bright spots, scoring 16 with 18 rebounds in Charlotte's 79-74 loss at home on Nov. 22
Though Milwaukee (8-12) posted its third straight victory over the Bobcats, it wasn't pretty as each team shot 37 percent and combined for 39 turnovers.
"This game set the game of basketball back a ways," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "That's for sure."
Ramon Sessions had 18 points and Charlie Villanueva added 15 to help the Bucks' bench outscore Charlotte's 43-12 in that contest.
Milwaukee's bench played a key role in its 97-90 victory over Chicago on Wednesday to snap a four-game losing streak. Villanueva had 23 points and 10 rebounds while seldom-used Dan Gadzuric added 11 and 14 as the Bucks (7-12) outscored the Bulls 40-25 in bench points.
Skiles hopes to continue to see improvement from the 6-foot-11 Gadzuric, who has recorded two double-doubles in his last three games.
"I feel Danny has had a good year so far," Skiles said. "He's played with energy almost every game. He's done something productive almost every game."
Milwaukee's Richard Jefferson had 21 points against the Bulls. Though he scored 15 in the last meeting with the Bobcats, he is averaging 23.8 in 14 games against the Bobcats.
Milwaukee is 6-1 all-time against Charlotte at the Bradley Center.
